UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA SABAH or UMS is a Malaysian public university located in the Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. Splint function to protect and reduce the risk of further damage and contamination on the injured area. Throughout the history, the design of current types of splint induces aggravated damages to injuries. The over compression pressure induced by the splint to application area further damage the affected areas, and leading to muscle necrosis and contractures or known as compartment syndrome. The compartment syndrome increases tissue pressure due to the external splint, which reduces the transmural arterial pressure that affects the blood flow or critical closure of blood vessel. This is the result of ineffective splint design to consider further damages to injuries. Therefore, a new concept of splint design has been established that could revolutionize the global splint market.
